P.S. Included in the papers my husband and I left with Congressman Cline were clips of recent exchanges on Facebook on somebody named Roman’s timeline, between an Orvin somebody and a Patricia. I’d tidily stapled the pages. Excerpts:

Orvin: I don’t know you but you need to wake up and listen to the facts instead of the fake news. Donald Trump has been given to the USA by the merciful hand of Almighty God. You need to be thankful to God for a President who is exposing and combatting evil

Patricia: and you know this, how?

Orvin: Just look at the facts. President Trump was spared by the merciful hand of God for such a time as this. No one else has had the courage to stand up against the corruption that we all knew was there. Now we see it being exposed.

Patricia: and I think God spared Trump in order that he may eventually pay for his crimes.

Orvin: All those charges brought against Donald Trump were bogus political charges. The evil left were trying to keep him from getting the presidency again bcs they are scared to death that he will expose their crimes. But God is on the side of the real Americans and has Trump in office for such a time as this. God will use him to bring down evil in our nation. You just hide and watch.

P.P.S. We thought it might be nice to drop off a fresh newspaper at Cline’s office. The one we took, yesterday’s, has an AP report on Doha’s red-carpet welcome for Trump—the sheikh and the camels and the F-15 planes. There’s a cartoon, too. We don’t understand how a jumbo jet would fit into Trump’s library.

Friday Afternoon En route to cousin Ann’s house, relegated to the back seat, I keep clicking clicking, trying to catch perfectly son and mother. But what’s more telling is the visit. Cookies for Barry, part 2   Because when I asked him whether people ever leave their rugs and never come back to reclaim them—he has a carpet-cleaning business—he stepped over to the pile of rolled-up ones along the wall, hefted up a big wool piece, unfurled it on the floor, and said, Here. People tell me they don’t have stinkbugs. Is this true? This can’t be true. Is the situation worse here? Is it because we live in the woods? They seem to travel in pairs. A little stinker will be lurking under a leaf of my Aloe vera, just its antlers and kneecaps visible. I’ll look around for the other, and, sure enough, it’s plastered against the window, deep in meditation. I’m reading, late, and out of nowhere one will dive-bomb through the lamplight, past my head.
